So you quit your cushy day job for your dream and it’s been 5 years and now you’re wondering if that wasn’t the dumbest mistake you could’ve made.
Sure, you’ve had some success as a certified health coach. You’ve got a gig with a public service customer. And your YouTube videos get piles of likes.
And holy frick it feels good in your bones. You’re finally doing the RIGHT thing for your life.
You made a choice for YOU.
Not for the kids and their constant needing. Or for your old boss and his constant demeaning. Not for your parents and how they think your life should go.
But it hasn’t turned out as you hoped and planned. It’s not floating the boat. Ugh. Mistake??
Nope.
It wasn’t a mistake.
It might feel like it was when you look at your bank account. Or when you measure your success compared to your classmates in your cohort. (Even the one that has the NYT best-selling cookbook out now?! Yeah, even compared to her. Still not a mistake.)
It was leaving the old and beginning the new – THAT’S what mattered.
Your old life was tired and a new one wanted to be born and you couldn’t just drop a match and set the old one ablaze.
You needed a compelling REASON to leave. You needed a story that made sense when you looked your people in the eye and said: “I’m walking away”.
Your soul needed this for the evolution of YOU, but your mind needed something more concrete.
It was a life preserver. It was what kept you buoyed as you set yourself adrift from your old life.
So, it didn’t turn out as you expected. That part is ok, too.
There are no missteps. Everything counts.
Because now you know you have what it takes to chart your own course.
You know you have the courage and skill to pivot your entire life.
Now you get the fun job (let it be FUN!) of dreaming up your next destination. And pointing your ship towards a new place.
